Rethink goes to the THEAs

On March 21, 2015, Rethink trekked down to the Disneyland Resort for the 21st Annual Themed Entertainment Awards! We got dolled up in our finest penguin suits and ballgowns and pretended to be extremely classy people for one evening (we're moderately classy most of the time, but not quite like this).

Not pictured above are Tito Soto, Lisa Levy, Elena Blue Blum and Abdulla Mahmood who would join us later (much later) because Los Angeles has traffic jams. Soon after this picture was taken, we would wander inside to hobnob. I was the only one who found his way to the red carpet photo op area, which is why the below photo exists.

We soon settled into the Disneyland Hotel ballroom for dinner and the awards ceremony. It was packed as you can see. The Hettema Group did a great job producing this year, and the room was tastefully decorated with Small World-themed centerpieces and set work – the recipient of the THEA Classic Award.

I was extremely honored to present an award this year, alongside Roberta Perry (ETI and Fresh Juice Global), to Bistro Chez Remy at Disneyland Paris. My main worry was pronouncing Ratatouille: L'Aventure Totalement Toquée de Rémy since I don't even remotely speak French. Thankfully, Thierry Coup gave me some tips before the show so I wouldn't make a complete fool out of myself. I was told I pulled it off, so that was nice. And because I'm the one writing this blog post I'm going to include not one, but TWO pictures of me on stage. Ha.

Afterward, a costumed Remy walk-around character presented our dessert, a deconstructed Strawberry Shortcake. Why not?

After the festivities, we retired to Trader Sam's for further festivities. And by festivities, I mean multi-colored drinks with light-up ice cubes and fancy garnishes.

Mike and Josh share a volcano bowl (the exception to the last call plastic cup rule).

Shortly after, Trader Sam's closed its doors and kicked us out, putting a cap on a delightful evening. Congratulations to all the award-winners, and we'll see you at the THEAs next year!
